Tusker visited St Alban’s Girl’s School to help plant trees in the school grounds. Year 7 children, staff and representatives of Tusker planted the saplings to create wildlife habitats and encourage biodiversity.
“Tusker are really pleased to be part of this tree planting initiative. It’s part of our commitment to carbon reduction. We’ve been providing emission offsetting of our cars for over 10 years now and this is a way for us to give something back to our local community” – Katie Brown, Communications Manager, Tusker
The trees were all native British species, grown in the UK and included Silver Birch, Hazel, Rowan and Hawthorn. These new saplings will provide a perfect habitat for wildlife, promoting biodiversity and preserving the natural environment. The children gained hands-on experience of how trees are planted and learned how important trees are to the world in which we live.
Tusker has teamed up with Carbon Footprint as part of their carbon management programme and with Tree Appeal, planting native broadleaf trees in schools.
Tusker is sponsoring the planting of more than 650 trees at St Albans, demonstrating their commitment to environmental education and their aim of reducing their impact on the natural world.
“We are delighted to be part of extending the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’. We’ve planted 650 trees today – a great legacy for our young people and for them to be actively engaged with conservation today and with sustainability into the future.” – Margaret Chapman – Executive Head Teacher
