You’ve joined the scheme and logged into the Tusker driver portal, ready to choose your next car – but either no cars are showing, or you can’t find the make and model you had in mind. We get how frustrating that can be, but don’t worry – there are a few common reasons this can happen, and most are easy to check or fix.
Before you dive into the detail, it’s worth running through this quick checklist first. It should help you spot what might be affecting the cars you can see and make it easier to find the most relevant guidance in this article.
Your details might all be correct and you may still see fewer cars than expected. The sections below explain why this can happen, and why the cars available to you can change over time.
If your search isn’t showing any cars at all, start with your Quote Settings.
You can check these by heading to My Account and selecting Quote Settings. It’s worth making sure everything you’ve entered is accurate, particularly your salary and any existing salary sacrifice commitments.
A simple typo can make a big difference. For example, entering your annual salary as £42 rather than £42,000, or accidentally entering an annual salary sacrifice commitment as a monthly figure, could significantly reduce the cars available to you.
Your Quote Settings help us show the cars and quotes to are right for you, so giving them a quick check is a good first step.
Yes. Salary sacrifice reduces your gross salary, but your salary can’t be reduced below the threshold set by your employer, which will take National Minimum Wage requirements into account.
If the salary reduction for a car would take your monthly take-home pay below that threshold, you won’t be able to choose it. Depending on your salary and any other salary sacrifice benefits you’ve got already, this could be why fewer cars appear on the portal.
That’s another reason it’s important to make sure the information in your Quote Settings is up to date.
Your employer can set criteria for the cars available through their scheme, so the choice can vary from one organisation to another.
For example, some employers offer an electric-only car scheme, while others might include electric and plug-in hybrid cars or set a maximum emissions level.
Tusker schemes can be tailored to an organisation’s individual requirements, which means the cars you see will reflect the policy of your employer’s scheme.
So, if you’ve searched for a petrol, diesel or hybrid car and it isn’t appearing, it may simply sit outside the criteria your employer’s chosen.
It can.
Insurance’s included as part of a Tusker car scheme, and eligibility criteria can affect which cars are available to you.
If you’re a younger driver, or you’re planning to add a younger additional driver, there may be restrictions on the cars you can choose. Depending on the age of the youngest driver and the car you’re looking for, this can sometimes limit your options considerably.
If you can see plenty of cars but not the particular model you want, there could be a different reason.
Car manufacturers regularly update their ranges, specifications and model years. When that happens, we sometimes need to wait for the latest information from the manufacturer before we can add the updated model to the driver portal.
As soon as we receive the information we need, we’ll get it into our system – so it’s worth checking the driver portal regularly and keeping an eye on your marketing emails from us for new cars in stock and arriving soon.
First, give your Quote Settings a quick check and make sure your salary and existing salary sacrifice commitments are correct.
If everything looks right, the cars available to you may be affected by your employer’s scheme criteria, your salary, insurance eligibility or current manufacturer availability.
And remember, the choice of cars can change. So, if the exact model you want isn’t there today, it’s worth keeping an eye on the driver portal to see what becomes available.
