Tusker celebrates 25 years of Driving Sustainable, Affordable Motoring

Tusker, one of the UK’s leading providers of salary sacrifice car schemes, is proudly celebrating 25 years in business. Since its launch in 2000, Tusker has been at the forefront of revolutionising the way drivers across the UK access vehicles — with a continued focus on sustainability, affordability, and simplicity.

What began as a modest venture has grown into a nationally respected brand, supplying thousands of low and zero-emission vehicles through UK employers. Today, Tusker works with over 2,500 organisations and supports more than 110,000 drivers in choosing cleaner, greener cars.

Over the past 25 years, Tusker has marked a series of major milestones. In 2008, Tusker launched the salary sacrifice car benefit scheme and then in 2011, the company secured the UK’s first public sector framework for salary sacrifice cars. In 2013, it became the first in the industry to offset all tailpipe emissions from its salary sacrifice vehicles, a commitment that continues today. Continued product enhancements over the years also saw the launch of stock cars in 2020, 60 month agreements, and Pre-loved, the used car offering last year.

The last few years have seen a number of industry awards, focused on the company’s environmental efforts, and as the best voluntary benefit in conjunction with our customers. Alison Argall, Vicky Anderson and Jodie Monaghan have also been recognised for their contribution to the adoption of electric cars in the industry with accolades as Top Women in EV.

Tusker’s growth attracted significant investment, with private equity firm ECI Partners acquiring the business in 2015 from Smedvig Capital, followed by becoming a proud member of Lloyds Banking Group in 2023 — positioning Tusker for further innovation and expansion.

By 2021, Tusker had reached 1 million eligible employees through its employer partners, doubling that figure to 2 million in 2024. Throughout this growth, Tusker has maintained an exceptional customer retention rate of over 99%, a testament to its dedicated account management teams and unwavering focus on customer service.
