Simply Conveyancing, is a leading UK Property law firm with around 280 employees, has always offered a market-leading remuneration package. The introduction of a salary sacrifice car benefit scheme with Tusker, however, marks another significant step in the legal company’s commitment to sustainability, employee wellbeing and retention.
The initiative reflects Simply Conveyancing’s strategic focus on attracting and retaining top legal talent in a competitive industry, while also promoting environmental responsibility through the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
Martin Turk, Head of HR at Simply Conveyancing, explains the rationale behind launching the scheme:
“We operate in a niche market where recruiting and retaining skilled property lawyers is always a challenge. We wanted to ensure our benefits package was truly industry-leading. With EVs becoming more desirable and affordable, it made perfect sense to introduce a car benefit scheme that provides our people with a cost-effective, hassle-free way to transition to electric.”
Beyond talent retention, sustainability played a key role. The firm recognised the need to align with broader environmental goals while offering employees financial advantages through tax savings on EV leases.
The selection of Tusker as the scheme provider was influenced by its seamless integration with Simply Conveyancing’s existing benefits platform, Reward Gateway. With many employees already familiar with the platform, adding a car scheme was a frictionless experience.
“We know that the cost of vehicles is a major factor for our employees”, said Turk. “Through the Tusker scheme, we’re able to offer a more affordable solution that covers maintenance, insurance, and servicing, removing the hassle of car ownership.”
The early response has been positive, considering changing vehicles is a major decision and happens when it’s the right timing for the employee, not necessarily when a new benefit has been launched. The scheme launched in September 2024, and to date, 28% of staff have logged into the portal, orders have been steady, and 5 cars have already been delivered. Those employees who have had deliveries already, have been keen to share their experiences on LinkedIn, praising the scheme and helping to drive internal engagement. Interest is expected to increase as employees reach the end of their existing car finance agreements.
The rising cost of vehicles was a key consideration for Simply Conveyancing. While the high upfront costs of EVs are a barrier for many, the Tusker salary sacrifice scheme provides an accessible way for employees to drive electric vehicles without large financial upfront payments.
While the scheme is still in its early stages, Simply Conveyancing is optimistic about its long-term success. The company is committed to ongoing promotion, leveraging internal communication channels to ensure all employees are aware of the benefit – an easy channel thanks to the workforce already being highly digital.
The Simply Conveyancing car scheme represents a step towards a more sustainable, employee-friendly benefits offering. By providing an affordable route to electric vehicle adoption, the firm is not only strengthening its commitment to green travel but also reinforcing its position as an employer of choice in the legal sector.
