Mohammed – “I definitely want to renew with Tusker!”

Mohammed Raja at Liberty Global is a driver on the Tusker car benefit scheme. He tells us about his experience with his Kia Sportage and Tusker over the past year.

Where it all began

Previously, Mohammed rented a Swift on lease privately and was in search for something bigger and better. The Kia Sportage caught his eye and when he looked through his company benefits offerings he noticed the Tusker salary sacrifice scheme. He explained “It made so much sense to get the car and everything included, especially when you compare the price to a private deal. That would’ve been to rent only but with the Tusker cars you get the complete package, so I thought it was a no brainer!” Mohammed found his perfect car through the Liberty Global intranet portal.

Ordering process

“Everything’s been really straightforward and easy.” We asked Mohammed about the ordering process, as at the time, there was a worldwide delay on car deliveries affecting the whole industry. He replied “when I ordered the car, there were a few delays in the industry, but I was constantly being kept up to date with what was happening.”

Plug-in hybrid or self-charging?

Mohammed has gone for a plug-in hybrid car, we asked him if hybrid is what he was initially looking for; “I was ideally looking for a self-charging hybrid but at the time the plug-in was the only one available.” He explains how he’s spending less on fuel now that he can share the car power with electric, “I don’t have a drive so I charge at my parents overnight, which isn’t too bad as they’re only 5 minutes away, and then pick up the car in the morning.”

Considering electric?

Mohammed lives quite a distance from London and needs to travel there a lot. With the ULEZ areas and other environmental factors, we wanted to know if he’d consider an electric vehicle for his next car over a hybrid; “I drive down to London often so I don’t want to stop and charge, with a hybrid I use my local miles on electric and long distance on fuel.” “I think it depends on what kind of cars are out there and the range at the time I renew, the most important thing for me is range and if I can travel to London in one go, so if at the time there’s something that will cover a minimum range of 450 miles, I might change.”

Ordering process

We asked Mohammed how his experience with Tusker has been since getting his new Kia Sportage and how he’s enjoying his car since he received it over a year ago; “This is a no brainer for me. Obviously, I’m getting everything, the full package.” Tusker takes pride on offering a simple process, we asked Mohammed if he feels he’s had that experience too; “100%, that’s what I shout about at work. I have a great car, don’t have to worry about servicing, tyres, it’s a brand-new car so the chances of it breaking down are minimal. Everything’s been really straightforward and easy. A lot of my colleagues have been thinking of getting a car through the Tusker scheme as well, after seeing the deals and the cars on offer.”
