How do I service my Tusker car?

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of sitting in a brand-new car for the first time. The pristine interior, the latest gadgets, and the sense of confidence that comes with driving a new vehicle are unparalleled.

Tusker offers a solution through its Salary Sacrifice scheme, which allows employees to affordably drive a new electric vehicle (EV), plug-in hybrid, or lower-emission car. With this scheme, there’s no need for a large upfront deposit. Instead, a manageable monthly payment is deducted from your salary, making it easier than ever to get behind the wheel of a new, environmentally friendly car.

Everything is Taken Care of by Tusker

Tusker’s salary sacrifice scheme includes all the essential services in your single monthly amount. Not only does this cover the cost of the car, but it also includes insurance, replacement tyres, maintenance, road tax, and breakdown cover. Say goodbye to the hassle of shopping around for quotes or remembering to renew memberships. With Tusker, you can focus on enjoying your new car without worrying about the additional costs and admin typically associated with running a car.

Your Responsibilities as a Tusker Driver

While Tusker handles as much as we can when it comes to running your car, it’s still important to keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure that your service and maintenance is kept on top of and booked in on time. Although the cost of servicing is covered, you’ll need to book your car into a garage as often as the manufacturer recommends. Regular maintenance is crucial, even for electric vehicles (EVs), to ensure they remain in optimal condition (it’s something you’ll need to be aware of as there might be costs passed on if you don’t have your car serviced in line with the manufacture service schedule).

Key Maintenance Tips for Electric Vehicles

  • Battery Health: Monitor the health and range of your EV’s battery. Most EVs come equipped with built-in tools to help you track this.
    • Avoid frequent rapid charging – Use rapid/DC chargers only when necessary (e.g. long journeys). For regular charging, use AC/home or workplace charging where possible.
    • Avoid charging to 100% routinely – For daily use, aim to keep the battery between 20% and 80% unless you need a full charge for a longer trip.
    • Don’t regularly run the battery very low – Try not to let the battery drop below 10% except when unavoidable.
    • Precondition while plugged in – Use scheduled pre-heating/cooling when the vehicle is plugged in to reduce battery strain and improve efficiency.
    • Be mindful in extreme temperatures – Very hot or very cold conditions can affect battery performance; where possible, park in shaded or sheltered areas.
    • Follow manufacturer guidance – Always refer to the vehicle handbook for specific battery care recommendations.
    • Report warning messages promptly – If you see any battery-related alerts, contact the driverline for support
  • Tyre Pressure and Tread: Just like with any car, maintaining proper tyre pressure and tread is essential for safety and efficiency.
  • Charging Port and Cable: Regularly inspect the charging port and cable for any damage or wear, as a faulty charging port can disrupt your charging routine.

Key Maintenance Tips for petrol and diesel vehicles

For those driving petrol or diesel vehicles, it’s important to regularly check the oil, coolant, and AdBlue (for diesel cars) levels to prevent any damage. While the costs of these top-ups between services are not covered by the servicing package, the overall maintenance of your vehicle is.

Damage Reminder

Please be aware that serviceable, and fair wear and tear repairs are covered within your agreement, but damaged and missing items are excluded.
