Chery Tiggo 8 – Are you plugged in for your perfect match?

Chinese electric and hybrid car brands have taken the world by storm in recent years, but Chery is making more waves than others with its new Tiggo 8.

You might know Chery as the parent company of Omoda, Jaecoo, and Lepas, but it’s making its own name for itself with the Tiggo 8 model. Its premium features, practical seven seat configuration, and outstanding value won it the Carwow Car of the Year 2026 award. Not bad for a first entry in the UK car market!

Chery Tiggo 8: Overview

The Chery Tiggo 8 is a powerful plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with premium features at a practical price point.

With seven seats split across three rows, its spacious, and gives an immediate sense of luxury. It’s 1.6L turbocharged engine is paired with a 108kW electric motor, giving a strong performance when utilising the petrol or electric engines – meaning it drives effortlessly, even with six passengers!

In more city-based environments, the electric motor offers around 56 miles of range (90-95km) – and an even more impressive combined range (petrol and electric) of over 700 miles.

With the third row of seats folded down, its boot can hold nearly 500 litres – or 117 litres with the seats up, which is more than enough for some luggage or a trip to the supermarket.

It’s very safe, too, with a 14-point Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), including lane departure prevention, blindspot detection, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), and even AI-based driver monitoring systems that spot signs of fatigue or distraction.

Modern Technology and Comfort-Focussed Driving Experience

The Chery Tiggo 8’s modern SUV interior offers a comfortable and premium feel. The car has been tuned for a smooth ride, and a quiet cabin gives pleasant daily driving and relaxed motorway travel.

In the driver’s seat, you’re greeted with two 15.6” displays – a driver’s cluster, and an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s a wireless phone charger in the front, and USB ports in each row of seats.

If you’re looking for a spacious, low emissions car, the Chery Tiggo 8 might just be the car for you. It’s premium features and low pricing is attractive, but its comfort-focussed design is what keeps people talking about the car.
