Andy Price Case Study: “Highly recommend, it’s a very good deal!”

Andy Price from The Swaythling Housing Society (ABRI) shares his experience on his Volvo XC40 through the Tusker salary sacrifice scheme.

Where it all began

Having heard about the Tusker scheme through his company, Andy was interested in seeing how salary sacrifice would compare to his lease car. Weighing up all of the differences, and he found that for just £10 more a month than his lease, he would get a much better car, with everything included, “it was a no brainer” he said.

Switching to electric

Andy wanted to move to an electric car, having previously driven diesel, petrol and hybrid. “It made sense to me – not only was the car a really good deal, and costs were important to me, so it made sense to do it, but I’m also passionate about sustainability, so the option to get an EV was great.” Andy has also found that he’s saving money in fuel costs too, which was another factor in his decision to choose an electric car; “I pay nowhere near what I was paying for fuel previously when I recharge my car!”

Choosing the perfect electric car for you

Andy knew that he wanted a larger car, and something with a higher driving position than his previous car. He tells us “My wife and I previously had a Grand Cherokee so were looking for something with that higher driver position but nothing as big as that, so when we came across the XC40 I realised it was the perfect electric car for me.” Andy expresses he “had a quick turnaround with my stock car, receiving it only a couple months later. I was impressed with how quickly it was delivered!”

Charging experience as a new electric car owner

“I still haven’t got a charger, it’s booked in for the end of the month but it hasn’t been an issue for me.” We were curious as to how he charges his electric vehicle; “I have charge points at our offices in Yeovil and Eastleigh in the car parks, the only time I’ll use a rapid charger is when I visit my Dad in South Wales, but I go from a full battery at home, then stop quickly on the way back, so I don’t have to pay much for my charging at all. At work it costs me 35p per KwH and the off-peak rate when I get my home charger installed will be 7p, so I’ll be saving there, too!”

Order and delivery experience

Andy used the website to order his car, where he was able to look at all the different options he had and consider whether he wanted a factory made car or to go with the stock car. After finding his XC40 stock vehicle, he ordered it through our website, he says “it was very easy to use, it’s idiot proof honestly.” Once Andy ordered it, he could sit back, relax and wait for Tusker to do their magic. “The car was delivered on time when they said they would, we received texts the day before confirming and a text on the day saying where the car was, with a tracker so I could see where they were. This allowed me to plan my day and ensure I was available when the car was delivered.” Andy expressed to us how much he appreciated the updates, communication and great customer experience.

Highly recommend!

We asked Andy if he would recommend Tusker to his friends/family, if so, what would he say to them about Tusker and the experience they’d receive; “I fully endorse it. The dashboard, website, view of the vehicles are all seamless and a smooth experience. It shows you clear dates that the cars are due in. You can add bits to the spec, tailor make it with mileage, paint, interior functionalities, etc. I was really impressed, it’s all very good. My colleagues have been asking me about it and, especially from a BiK perspective, I highly recommend it, it’s a very good deal.”
