10 popular family electric and hybrid cars to consider

When it comes to family electric and hybrid cars, there’s no shortage of choice — which can make it tricky to know which one is right for you and your family.

Here’s a quick look at ten popular electric and plug-in hybrid SUVs to help you find the right fit.

1: Omoda 5/E5

Omoda – part of the Chery family – has made some serious waves since it launched in the UK in 2025. In short, it’s a comfortable, spacious family SUV, with brilliant range and premium tech features. But most importantly, the all-electric E5 is an entry-level model, so it’s also priced very competitively against other cars in its class.

Its electric powertrain can deliver up to 267 miles of range, which is more than enough for daily use, and will also be practical if you’re travelling long journeys. You can make use of the 130kW fast-charging capability for a quick top-up too.

That makes the Omoda E5 a great fit for families of up to five, with the range to handle longer trips when they come around.

2: Jaecoo E5

Jaecoo, part of the Chery family, is arriving in the UK with the adventurous new E5. Designed with family trips in mind, it blends rugged styling with modern tech, strong performance and an interior designed for every member, including pets.

With 207ps of power, a 60.9kW battery and up to 248 miles of range, it’s ready for wherever the road takes you.

There are also some unique, fun features in the J5. An in-car Karaoke system adds entertainment on the move (and if you know Tusker, especially over on our socials, you’ll know we’re not shy to a carpool karaoke session!), while thoughtful extras like pet mode and pet-friendly accessories make it a great choice for families who travel with their four-legged companions. Amping up the fun, you can switch on ‘picnic mode’ which lets you play music out of the bumper; so, you can continue your karaoke session whilst enjoying your lunch.

The Jaecoo E5 is perfect for families, and four-legged friends, who are always looking for their next adventure.

Find what works for you

A car is a very personal thing, and they all have different qualities to offer you. Consider your daily usage, such as distance covered or how many seats you need, and narrow down the options. Then, go and see a car in person, drive it, and choose the one you like the best.

It’s also worth asking your employer if they have a company car scheme, such as Salary Sacrifice – which can help guide your decision, and save you a bit of money too!

You can see how Tusker's car scheme can work for you, here.
