The longest-range vehicles on the market now cover almost 400 miles on a single charge. That’s further than some petrol and diesel cars!

Not always! Depending on where you charge, it could take as little as 20 minutes. Ultra-rapid chargers are the quickest way to charge (100Kw-350Kw) and are usually found on motorway service stations or close to main roads.  These are the chargers that could take your car up to 80% charge in as little as 20 minutes (ideal for those long journeys with toilet and coffee breaks!)  And don’t forget, with a home chargepoint, you’d always be topped up!

Almost two thirds of people said they wouldn’t choose an electric car because they worried about the number of charging points. However, the number of available public charging points is constantly increasing.  You can de-bunk this myth yourself by taking a look at our charging map, how many can you find along your typical journey?

Ah the classic. You can read more from the AA to de-bunk this one for yourself (it was less than 3% of EV breakdowns in 2024).  But did you know the top 30% of EV breakdowns are due to the same issues their fellow Petrol and Diesel counterparts run into?  Tyres, Wheels, and the 12v battery (which, yes, is also located within an EV and sits entirely seperate to the battery an EV uses to propell the car – so turning on the radio won’t take away the charge you need to get home).

For the 40% of the UK that don’t have a driveway – perhaps you live in a terraced house or flat – and EV could still be perfectly suitable. It just requires a little more forward planning. You may be able to charge at work, or on the kerb where you leave the car overnight, at your local gym, or perhaps it’s a quick trip to Costa or McDonald’s for a quick charge once a week.  Use our handy chargepoint map – you’ll be surprised how many chargers you could find near you!

Whilst we know you are certainly sticking to the speed limit, new EV drivers are often surprised about how quick and responsive they are compared to Petrol or Diesel cars.  Many EVs will easily reach 0-62 mph in less than 6 seconds.  And if you want to talk fuel consumption – compare your current car with a host of EVs and see what difference the switch could make to you!
